When someone is arrested and taken into custody by the Bishop Police Department they will be taken to a local station and may be held up to 8 hrs before being transferred to Inyo County Jail. If bail is posted at the police station, release time is pretty immediate. If they are not bailed out here, they are transferred to the Inyo County Jail which means they are placed into the custody of the County Sheriff and release can take several hours.

The cities and town in Inyo County include Big Pine, Bishop, Cartago, Darwin, Deep Springs, Dixon Lane-Meadow Creek, Furnace Creek, Homewood Canyon-Valley Wells, Independence, Keeler, Lone Pine, Mesa, Olancha, Pearsonville, Round Valley, Shoshone, Tecopa, West Bishop and Wilkerson.  If your friend or family member was arrested in one of these cities, they will eventually wind up in the Inyo County Jail unless they are bailed out.

The Inyo County Jail, located at 550 N. Clay Street in Independence, is most famous for housing the Manson Family before they were discovered to be the murderers of several people in Beverly Hills in the 1960s. Today, the 84-bed jail now houses men and women of all classifications.
